Headline: Special Ad hoc commission meeting for the recruitment of English speaking Judicial Personnel.
In his opening speech to the members of the Ad hoc Commission in charge of the special recruitment of English speaking Judicial personnel for the Appeal Courts of the North West and the South West regions, the Minister of the Public Service and Administrative Reform, Joseph LE, encouraged members to take active part in the commission, considering the virtues of loyalty, patriotism and love for the state.
The commission which met in the conference room of the Ministry on the 29th of May 2019, was created by a ministerial order of the ministry of the Public Service on the 6th of April 2017 following the very high instructions of the Head of state president Paul BIYA. It is comprised of representatives from the general secretariat of the presidency, Prime Minister's office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Finance and the National School of Administration and Magistracy who are charged with the responsibility of designing, coordinating, and evaluating the operations that would lead to the special recruitment for pupil Magistrates and student court registrars of English expression within a four year term from 2017-2020. Amongst others, the Minister noted that, since 2017, the commission had succeeded to launch over two sessions of the special recruitment and the objective of the meeting of today, was to conclude on strategies that are to be implemented to attain the vision of the commission and discuss about the 3rd session of the special
recruitment exercise which was launched on the 3rd of May and entries would be closed on the 14th of June 2019.
In his press briefing after the meeting, the minister revealed that, the commission which was created by presidential recommendation owing to the grievances expressed by citizens of the North West and South West shows that the head of States pays attention to the problems of his people and hopes that the established solutions will strengthen our national Unity and living together.
To facilitate the exercise, training Centres have been opened in Buea, Bamenda, Garoua and Yaoundé and as concerns statistics, the commission has already recruited over 160 judicial personnel, that is , (100 Magistrates and 60 court registrars). It is expected that by the end of the 4 years, approximately 200 Magistrates and 300 court registrars would have been recruited and trained.
